Meet our Team

Team TUMOR is a group of 12 students in the Gemstone Honors Program class of 2021 at University of Maryland, dedicated to research, and majoring in a variety of STEM fields.  We are joined by two wonderful mentors, and a personal librarian.

Research

Cancer research has come a long way in recent years, with the development of surgical sealants to replaces sutures, as well as the development of various anticancer drugs.  Current research focuses on integrating sealants with these drugs to provide safer and more localized cancer treatment

Our Question

How can we develop a surgical sealant that incorporates drug release to create a more localized and effective treatment, and which materials/ drugs are ideal for a extended and successful treatment?
